Position Title: Project Assistant (Migration Health)

 Classification:  General Staff Category, Grade G-5, UN Salary Scale

Type of Appointment:  Fixed term, one year with possibility of extension

Context:

Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission and the direct supervision of the National Migration Health Officer, the incumbent will be responsible for the effective implementation of migration health project activities as follows:

 Core Functions / Responsibilities: 

  • Manage appointments for health assessments with IOM Chisinau panel doctors/designated medical practitioners for migrants traveling to the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and UK.
  • Identify issues affecting efficient process delivery and suggest and initiate remedial actions.
  • Verify and confirm identity of migrants arriving for health assessments, register and verify all the relevant information in the medical record systems.
  • Provide counselling to migrants regarding physical examinations, follow-ups, and further requirements (treatment etc.)
  • Monitor medical status of all migrants scheduled for traveling and prepare the documents one week before the date of departure for planned movements within USRAP.
  • Handle and control the processing of medical information and manage medical record systems.
  • Serve as focal point and system administrator for the MIMOSA, e-Medical, UKTB, PBI systems. Responsible for the overseeing and maintenance, following new technical instructions, assure security and confidentiality.
  • Manage medical escorts’ database and keep medical reports and contracts archived and available for revision.
  • Prepare daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual financial and statistical reports.
  • Translate medical documentation from local language into English and vice versa.
  • Properly register and reconcile with the Finance Department all payments received from the migrants.
  • Verify Invoices from service providers and submit payment requests in timely manner.
  • Monitor usage, register and timely alert on missing office materials and medical supplies. Prepare purchase requests for such items in a timely manner.
  • Assist with drafting the contracts with medical escorts, consultants and various IOM service providers
  • Such other duties as may be assigned.

 Required Qualifications and Experience

 Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, biology, medicine or other related fields;
  • Knowledge of the business administration and health regulations of Moldova.
  • At least five years of professional experience,
  • Experience in Migration Health area.
  • Work experience in practicing of evidence-based medicine will be an advantage.
  • Work experience in multinational companies or international organizations.
  • Skilful organizer and good analytical thinker.
  • Capable of communicating effectively with different levels within and outside the Organization.
  • Proven proficiency in MS Office applications, MS Word, Excel and Access in particular.

 Languages:

Fluency in English, Romanian and Russian is required.
