Background
The United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women (UN Women) grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security. UN Women promotes the human diversity, non-discrimination and inclusion of all minorities in all the socio-economic field seeking to contribute to the empowerment of people vulnerable to human right violations. Unit/ Project background: The work of UN Women in Moldova is guided by its new Country Strategic Note 2023-2027, aligned with the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework for Moldova (2023-2027), UN Women Global Strategic Plan, National Programs and Strategies and aims to contribute to the gender-responsive implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The Strategic Note focuses on four main areas: 1) Ending Violence against Women; 2) Women’s Leadership and Governance; 3) Women’s Economic empowerment and 4) Humanitarian and Peace development nexus and UN Coordination on Gender equality. The announced internship position comes as a measure to enable people belonging to groups vulnerable to discrimination to get the necessary skills to further defend and promote their own rights, and to contribute to UN Women work, specifically under the area of Ending Violence against Women. Under the guidance and direct supervision of the UN Women Programme Analyst, the intern is supposed to assist on a part-time basis in daily implementation of the tasks, presented below.
