Overview:

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) hereby announces an Expression of Interest (EOI) to identify qualified publishers, copyright holders, and educational content providers interested in participating in an upcoming solicitation for the provision of mathematics textbooks for grades 1–12 currently used in Estonian schools, along with the associated copyright licensing rights required for their adaptation, translation, and distribution in the Republic of Moldova.

UNDP Moldova is implementing the “Advancing Quality Education and Lifelong Learning Opportunities for All” Programme in partnership with UNICEF Moldova and funded by the European Union for the period 2024-2027. The main objective of the programme is to contribute to human capital development in the Republic of Moldova by improving the quality and relevance of education and lifelong learning, so that they better match the needs of the labour market.

As part of the programme, one of the expected results is to support the Ministry of Education and Research in Moldova to carry out a school curriculum reform by 2027. The revised curriculum will follow a transdisciplinary approach that prepares young people for life and future challenges. The programme will also provide support for developing curricular materials and educational content that align with the new standards and assist schools in implementing the updated curriculum.

In the context of the modernization of the school curricula, which remains a key component of the ongoing education reform in the Republic of Moldova, the Ministry is also interested in adopting mathematics textbooks from Estonia. These textbooks are recognized for their high quality, alignment with international standards, and effective pedagogy approach. By exploring the adaptation and use of these textbooks, the Ministry aims to enhance the teaching and learning of mathematics in Moldovan schools, ensure coherence with the revised curriculum, and provide students with more engaging and relevant learning resources.
